Haematology doctors in training take three years out of their clinical program to complete a PhD thesis. The goal is to train a generation of clinician-scientists who will be the medical innovators of the future.
So far we have funded and supervised 10 doctors through our MD-PhD program linked between Dublin and the Dana Farber Cancer institute, Harvard University, Boston.
We have also developed the Gerry Kelly Undergraduate Summer Studentship Program for medical students.
Our MD-PhD program is supported by Enterprise Ireland, the Irish Research Council, The Health Research Board, the Irish Cancer Society and pharmaceutical partners.
